How many units of Dysport/BOTOX do I need?
Unit quantities vary by patient, treatment area, and desired result.
What is the difference between Dysport and BOTOX?
Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin are three name brands of Botulinum Toxin Type A. Dysport is preferred by most of our patients as it costs less and can last longer.
How many days does it take to see full effect of Dysport/BOTOX?
For Dysport and Botox, weakening of the injected muscles begins to appear as early as 2-3 days, however, it takes approximately 10-14 days to see full effect.
How often should I get Dysport/BOTOX?
The minimum length of time between treatments is 3 months. For most patients results can last 3-6 months. Beyond that, it varies by patient, treatment area, and how individual bodies metabolize the product.
What guidelines do I need to follow prior to Dysport/Botox treatment?
Please refrain from taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), Naproxen (Aleve), blood thinners (*please verify your blood pressure medication is not a blood thinner), anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wart, Ginger, Garlic, Ginko Biloba, high doses of Vitamin E, or Omega-3's for 5 days prior to your Dysport/Botox appointment. This helps limit the risk for bruising and bleeding and avoids it having an adverse affect on whether we can provide treatment at that time.
Approved medications include: Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
Can I exercise after my Dysport/BOTOX treatment?
Please refrain from engaging in any activity/exercise for 24 hours post injection.
Will Dysport/BOTOX injections cause bruising?
Bruising varies widely by patient, treatment area, and dose. It is not uncommon to bruise at the injection site and usually resolves in 3-4 days.
What are you minimums?
Our minimums are as follows: 75 units for Dysport appointments and 30 units for Botox appointments. Units may no longer be banked
